PTK Advisory Group

Purpose

Formed during the 2024-2025 Academic Year, the primary function of the Advisory Group is to provide overall guidance to OFA and the Provost on matters that are relevant to PTK faculty at the University of Maryland. 

Key Responsibilities

The Advisory Group will:

• Provide a forum for discussion about issues relevant to PTK faculty;
• Share concerns and/or issues impacting PTK faculty within their unit(s) (e.g., center, department, college);
• Recommend modifications to existing PTK faculty-related policies and procedures, and/or provide input into where new policies and procedures may be necessary;
• Provide input on how proposed revisions to existing or new University policies and procedures will impact PTK faculty;
• Review and comment on the language and scope of proposed PTK-focused administrative actions by OFA or the Office of the Provost; and, 
• Assist OFA and the Office of the Provost in disseminating information relevant to PTK faculty members within their units.

Structure

In consultation with OFA, the Dean of each College shall appoint one PTK faculty member to the Advisory Group in consultation with OFA. In addition, the Advisory Group shall include the ADVANCE Professor for the PTK Faculty. The Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, at their discretion, may appoint additional members from units which appoint PTK faculty members.

The Advisory Group should seek to maintain broad representation in its membership with respect to both title series and rank. Members will serve either a two (2)-year or a three (3)-year term with half of the members appointed for a two (2)-year term, and the remaining members appointed for a three (3)-year term.
