PTK faculty are constantly strapped for time and, with growing concerns of funding in academia, it’s unlikely for workloads to decrease. Although life on the PTK can feel overwhelming, there are ways to improve your workflow using modern technology and other time-saving techniques. From software that rapidly reduces the time needed to edit online lectures/research talks, to apps that improve your calendar management, to classroom policies that help students and teachers, this session teaches you how to get hours back of your day with minimal barrier to entry.

Jacob Coutts is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology and for the Social Data Science Major. His research philosophy broadly is to make advancements in quantitative methods (e.g., mediation, moderation, power, and data visualization) and make those methods accessible to others through software development and pedagogical/tutorial papers. His philosophy in the classroom is to use active learning techniques to equip his students with transferable skills, such as programming in R and Python, professional development, and research design/ethics. He has held numerous positions in industry and academia that have given him a unique approach to teaching and applying research methods and statistics. He is also passionate about equity in PTK positions and is a member of the Advancing Professional Track Faculty Peer Network. In his “free time,” he enjoys movies, stand-up, and sports!
