Engaging with Your Field Beyond Traditional Academic Research
It’s important that all faculty continuously engage with their fields of interest to remain strong instructors, researchers, and/or clinicians. While TTK faculty primarily focus on peer-reviewed and grant-funded work, PTK faculty enjoy a greater degree of flexibility and creativity in their efforts to stay connected to their areas of study. This session will explore some of these non-traditional avenues of engagement, such as writing white papers and research reports (often in collaboration with outside organizations), contributing articles to trade publications, developing an edited volume or textbook, and conducting pedagogical research. These can be valuable contributions to one’s field and allow PTK faculty to both advance knowledge and build their public profiles.
