Silver Terp Seminars | How climate change is affecting mountain wildflower and pollinator communities
Mountain environments are experiencing some of the most rapid and visible effects of climate change. In this talk, Dr. David Inouye will explore how shifting mountain climates are affecting wildflowers, pollinators, and other mountain residents. He will draw on 55 years of research in mountain environments, including work at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory in Colorado and during a sabbatical in Australia’s Snowy Mountains, among other locations.
Building on this long-term research, Dr. Inouye also brings extensive experience in the broader ecological community. He is the founder and moderator of the Ecological Society of America’s ECOLOG-L listserv and serves on the Board of the North American Pollinator Protection Campaign. He is a Past President of the Ecological Society of America and served as a Lead Author on the report on pollinators produced by the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services.
