Silver Terp Seminars: Birds, Brains, and Behavior

Mar 31, 1:00 pm
- 2:30 pm
Virtual

Dr. Robert Dooling began his research on the psychophysics of bird hearing while a graduate research assistant at the Central Institute for the Deaf in Saint Louis in the late 1960s. After several years collaborating with avian field biologists at Rockefeller University, he joined the faculty at the University of Maryland, where he continued to build his research program.

In this engaging talk, Dr. Dooling will reflect on his lifetime of research into the hearing capabilities of birds. He will share how his work has not only deepened our understanding of avian auditory systems but also challenged long-standing dogmas about hearing and speech in humans.
