Leave Benefits
Annual and personal leave is available to appointees with a term of 10 or 12 months and FTE of 50% or greater. However, upon resignation, retirement, non-renewal or conversion to a non-annual leave accruing appointment, a faculty member is entitled to a maximum cash payout of no more than 10 days (80 hours). Read the Provost's memo regarding leave payout.
Non-creditable sick leave (i.e. collegially supported leave where colleagues of the disabled faculty member voluntarily take over classes & other essential duties.) is available to appointees whose appointment is for at least a year.
Family and Medical Leave is available after at least 12 months of employment, and for appointees with 50% or more FTE.
Leave without pay is available after at least 12 months of employment, for faculty employed full time on a contract that includes the term that the leave would cover.
Tuition remission for spouses and dependents is available with an appointment of at least six months and FTE of 50% or more, and an initial appointment of two years prior to anticipated registration.
