Adding Book Pages

The book form in Drupal is useful for creating lots of content items that are related. We use the book form for the APT Guidelines, and for the AEP Guidelines.

If you need to add a new page to the APT Guidelines, just choose Book Page from the add content menu. After you've created the page, click the Book outline tab to the right. Choose the appropriate book from the dropdown and then choose the section where the page should go. While there is no limit on how many subsections you can include, you should probably not go further than the third level. For the moment, subsections don't appear on the side navigation until the main page is opened. If you should happen to forget to set the book page, just reopen the item for editing and add it in.

Important: You must also use the URL alias field, near the bottom of the right column, and set the alias as /apt/[either the node ID or one or two words that represent the content of the page, separated with a hyphen]. If you are editing the AEP Guidelines, the URL alias would start with /aep/. An example of the first type: /apt/573. An example of the second type: /apt/first-level. Adding /apt or /aep to the URL is what makes the running headline appear.

Every page in the APT Guidelines has a date of last update, to allow users to recognize when content was changed. If you are making a new page, today's date will be entered automatically, but if you're updating a page, you'll have to update the date manually.
