Professor John Bertot

College of Information Studies (the iSchool)

John Bertot joined the University of Maryland in 2008 as a professor in the iSchool and has served as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs since 2016. Prior to becoming Associate Provost, John served as Director of the Master of Library and Information Science program and co-director of the Information Policy & Access Center in the iSchool. The Office for Faculty Affairs oversees the University’s policies and procedures regarding faculty members, in particular appointments, reviews, promotions, and governance.

John’s research interests focus on the roles of public libraries in building digitally inclusive communities; the creation of equitable information and telecommunications policies; and the development of digital and open government policies and practices.
