Department Chair's Letter

The Chair should perform an independent assessment of the candidate, separate from that of the Department APT Review Committee. The letter should contextualize the Unit discussion and vote, particularly in the event of any negative comments and/or vote outcomes. It must also include the Chair’s own recommendation regarding promotion. Make sure the date on the letter matches the date on the transmittal form. Remember that the text of the letter must be searchable.
