Eligibility

An eligible paper is one that includes original research data, theory, or synthesis; is a fundamental contribution to basic knowledge or a technical achievement of far-reaching

This information is intended to facilitate discussion and inform faculty broadly regarding the scope of academic freedom and free speech.

Submitted annual activity reports, and any personal statements or other materials that were submitted with the report, can be downloaded from the Workflow Submissions dashboard. 

Departments and colleges/schools across the campus are periodically involved in accreditation efforts.

Please note that only the faculty titles listed below may be used for appointees to faculty status.
The term "Adjunct" has a very specific meaning within the University's Policy on Adjunct Faculty (II-1.07(A)), namely part-time instructional faculty who are paid by the course, or whose appointments are less than 50% FTE ("Full Time Equivalent"), or who are ineligible for benefits.

The PTK Excellence Awards were established by the Provost to recognize professional track faculty members for consistently excellent contributions in core academic areas: teaching, research, and service. The award includes a $1,000 stipend and recognition from the Provost.

Professorial Titles and Extension Titles

The University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) does not permit a faculty member to hold tenure at more than one institution.
